Siemens will be able to participate in the contest for TPP in Taman

The German concern Siemens will be able to take part in the tender for the supply of gas turbine equipment for TPP Udarnaya in Taman, which will be built by Rostekha company Tekhnopromexport. This was stated by the head of "Rostekh" Sergei Chemezov.

"We will announce a competition, everyone can come, including Siemens, if they want," Chemezov explained. After the trial, due to the supply of Siemens turbines to the Crimea in the summer of 2017, the German concern said it would limit cooperation with Russian companies in the energy sector. However, on April 19, the head of Siemens in Russia, Dietrich Meller, acknowledged that the group expects to supply power equipment to Russian power plants as part of a new program for renewing energy capacities.

In turn, Deputy Energy Minister Andrei Tcherezov said earlier that there are no problems with finding equipment suppliers for TPP "Udarnaya", since Taman is not under sanctions. According to Cherezov, the authorities are considering several options for attracting suppliers of power equipment, the final decision on this issue may be taken in May.

Tekhnopromexport won a tender for the construction of TPP "Impact" with a capacity of 465 MW in Taman in March 2018. Only two bids were submitted for the competition - from VetroOGK (Rosatom company) and Technopromexport.

The supply of electricity from the station should begin in 2021.

Tekhnopromexport is building two gas thermal power plants in the Crimea with a capacity of 470 MW each - in Sevastopol and Simferopol. Putting the first blocks of TPPs into operation (with a capacity of 235 MW each) is scheduled for May. At the Crimean TPP, they intended to install turbines made with Siemens technology, but at the end of 2016 the concern stopped deliveries because of EU sanctions.

The Russian side said that it had found another supplier of turbines, and equipment for TPPs in the Crimea was purchased in the secondary market and improved at Russian plants.

In August 2017, the EU expanded its sanctions against Russia by including Cherezov, Director of the Department of the Energy Ministry Yevgeny Grabchak and Technopromexport General Director Sergei Topor-Gilk in the list of those who are involved in the delivery of Siemens turbines to the Crimea. Restrictions are also imposed on Siemens partner companies in Russia: Technopromexport, Tekhnopromexport, and Interautomatica.

The Moscow Arbitration rejected the claims of Siemens and Siemens Gas Turbine Technology to OAO and Tekhnopromexport LLC, in which the plaintiffs demanded to invalidate the equipment supply contracts and return it.
